Meet Our Coaches
Head coach and owner
Wes started as one of CrossFit Goliath’s founding members in 2014. Shortly thereafter, he caught the CF bug and soon began coaching. In addition to his CF Level 1 & 2 certifications, he has completed Chris Hinshaw’s CrossFit Aerobic Capacity certification, the CrossFit Gymnastics course with Pamela Agnon, and Mike Burgener’s CrossFit Weightlifting Level 1 course. Wes is a 20+ year veteran of the USAF where he still serves as a Colonel in the Reserves. You’re likely to see his three kids (Keels, Starr, and Scarlett) and wife (Monica) at the gym while you’re there. It’s a family affair for the Maxwells!
Coach & Owner
Monica has been a Goliath athlete since 2015. Besides part-owner, she is a coach, gym HR rep, a killer athlete, and mom of three… four if you count her husband, Wes. If you’re reaching out to us for the first time, you’re bound to talk with Monica. Beyond that, she’s also the gym mom. Our coaching staff affectionately refers to her at “Momica.” Monica attended her CF Level 1 in 2022 but you probably won’t find her coaching too many classes. She’s too busy tending to the Goliath flock or killing some handstand pushups.
With an athletic background in baseball and basketball, Chet found CrossFit in 2014 when he got tired of the normal gym routine. He was immediately drawn to the competitive nature of CrossFit. In addition to his CrossFit Level 1 & 2 certifications, Chet has completed Mike Burgener’s CrossFit Weightlifting Level 1 course. Chet has been with the Goliath team since 2021. He’s a first-round draft pick for any partner competition or workout.
Tyler came from an athletic background having played football and track & field in high school. He began his fitness career in personal and small group training helping clients reach their fitness goals. In 2012 after four years in the fitness industry, he discovered CrossFit. He obtained his CF Level 1 certification two years later and has coached CrossFit ever since. In addition, he has obtained his CrossFit Strongman certification from Rob Orlando, the USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification, and Mike Burgener’s CrossFit Weightlifting Level 1 course. Tyler joined the Goliath crew in 2021. When he’s coaching, bring the intensity!
Shannon has been part of the CrossFit community for 8 years. In 2014, her dad encouraged her to go with him to try the new CrossFit gym that opened up in her hometown. Without any athletic or sports background, it was a different world. Meeting all the amazing people in the CrossFit community helped her realize that making people become better versions of themselves was a true passion. In addition to her CrossFit Level 1 & 2 certifications, Shannon has completed Mike Burgener’s CrossFit Weightlifting Level 1 course. She has been a member of the Goliath team since 2021. If she’s not coaching, count on seeing her leading the Goliath ladies in heavy lifts!
Allyson became a part of the CrossFit community in 2016 and has been a coach at Goliath since 2022. With a background in athletics and swimming, and a long-standing history with training and physiology, Allyson was immediately hooked by the competitive and inherent intensity of the workouts. Allyson obtained her NASM personal training certificate in 2015 and CrossFit Level 1 in 2023, and has a masters degree in Applied exercise physiology and kinesiology. She specializes in working with clinical populations, but has experience in all areas of fitness, from high level athletes, to health maintenance for seniors. With one of the best engines in the gym, she’s a regular atop the Workout of the Day.
Donald started CrossFit in 2018. He found CrossFit when running and cycling 15 hours a week lost its appeal. CrossFit offered a more timely approach to fitness. With a structured strength and weightlifting regime, he was hooked after his first class. He received his CrossFit Level 1 certification in 2019 and started coaching right away. He embraces the simplicity of CrossFit, and believes all that is required to start CrossFit is a willingness to show up with a good attitude. Donald joined the Goliath coaching team in 2023. He loves helping and seeing people work toward their goals, so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to him or catch him in the gym. If he doesn’t have the answer, he’ll help you find it. Even though he’s a Masters Athlete, Donald gives all the young bucks in the gym a run for their money!
